With the release of the Xbox Series X around the corner, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the current generation that is the Xbox One. The console was officially unveiled in May 2013 and released worldwide a few short months later. A great deal of highlights and memorable moments have stacked up since then.
In 2015, for example, Backwards Compatibility was announced, bringing hundreds of Xbox 360 titles to the Xbox One. In 2017, the Xbox One X – capable of 4k gaming and more – was released. And, in the same year, gamers were given the ability to access over 100 games for one low monthly fee in the form of Xbox Game Pass.
On the gaming front, of course, Xbox One is home to countless adventures and experiences, such as Halo 5: Guardians, Forza Horizon 4, Sea of Thieves, Gears 5, and Ori and the Will of the Wisps. And let’s not forget the thousands of third-party titles and indie gems!
The Xbox One, along with the millions of fans who were part of its journey, are certainly worth celebrating. Xbox Hall of Fame, running from October 1 to 19, has been created to do just that.
Competing for a spot in the Xbox Hall of Fame is as easy as registering your Gamertag and playing your favorite games on Xbox One, to place first in any of the eight categories. The Gamerscore Legend challenge, for instance, will be won by whoever has racked up the most points during the lifetime of Xbox One.
If you only jumped into the console later on, don’t worry. There are five other Xbox One trials just for you, all with much shorter qualifying periods. The Sea of Thieves Legendary Captain’s Challenge, for example, takes place over one weekend, from October 2 to 4, and tasks players with earning as much emissary value as they can in Athena’s Fortune Emissary voyages. The Achievement Defeater challenge, meanwhile, is about unlocking as many achievements as possible over the duration of the campaign.
The effort will be well worth it, especially with such big prizes at stake. Eight category winners will be selected from each country to have their names added to the Xbox Hall of Fame. That’s not all, though – they’ll also receive an Xbox Series X, trophy, hoodie, and 12 months of access to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate!
There are other rewards up for grabs too. All who register will have a shot at a year of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, while those who activate Xbox Hall of Fame’s two new punch cards will rack up Microsoft Rewards points to spend on the next generation of gaming.
Whatever you make your focus, ensure you celebrate Xbox One the right way – by playing the heck out of it. Visit the Xbox Hall of Fame page for complete details and the full list of eligible countries and markets, then sign in and register with your Gamertag, check out the categories, and start competing. Remember, there’s a spot in Xbox history, an Xbox Series X, and more up for grabs!
