HTC’s PC-VR streaming solution VIVE Business Streaming (VBS) has just been upgraded to version 1.07, with a host of new and useful features for enterprises and enthusiasts alike.
Both hand tracking and the new VIVE Wrist Tracker are natively supported in VBS 1.07. VIVE Wrist Tracker is able to bring new levels of precision and reliability to hand tracking. With the VBS 1.07 update, VIVE Focus 3 hand tracking now works with PC-VR applications, supporting both OpenVR Skeletal Input and the OpenXR Hand Tracking API. This means that VIVE Wrist Tracker’s advanced hand tracking is compatible with the majority of PC-VR content that uses hand tracking, including SteamVR Home and The Lab.*
In addition, the 1.07 update also allows VIVE Wrist Trackers to be used like a VIVE Tracker, so you’ll be able to use them to track objects similar to how you would with a VIVE Tracker (3.0).
VBS 1.07 vastly improves the wireless capabilities for VIVE Focus 3. Dedicated IP configuration is now supported, and multiple headsets can be used on the same network – with support for Wi-Fi 5, Wi-Fi 6, and Wi-Fi 6E**. VBS can now adaptively adjust wireless streaming settings to maintain a consistently stable connection. This week’s VIVE Focus 3 firmware update will further extend support of Wi-Fi 6E to users in Belgium.
Tethered streaming now works with both USB 2.0 and 3.0 cables. By adding USB 2.0 compatibility, VBS enables businesses to easily deploy more VIVE Focus 3 headsets, without having to purchase additional cables. VBS 1.07 also upgrades the maximum bitrate for USB 3.0 tethered streaming to 200Mbps, which is fully supported by the high performance VIVE Streaming Cable.
Finally, the VBS 1.07 update features encryption for both mic input and audio output to ensure a high degree of privacy and security.
VBS 1.07 is available as a free update through the VBS PC application. Users will also need to perform an update on the VIVE Focus 3 headset. To do so, they simply need to log in to the VIVE Business AppStore and download the update.
