Well, it’s official. Amazon has updated its homepage with a banner declaring that Monday July 16th is 2018’s Prime Day. We’ll be monitoring it closely to flag any decent 3D printer and 3D printing deals that come up — watch this space.
It’s easy to dismiss Amazon’s made-up holiday as a cynical ploy to dress up what is effectively clearing the warehouse shelves of old and dusty tat (or, more likely, a clever grab for Prime subscriptions). And for the most part you’d be right to.
But — and it’s a big but — sometimes there are deals on great products that are likely to push those of you sitting on the fence, right on over to the greener grass or whatever.
Those of you that tuned in to our 2017 monitoring of Prime Day found cut price Lulzbot Mini and Taz 6 3D printers floating along as the cream of that particular day’s bargain bucket crop. A Robo R1 bundle with 6 spools of filament and the Lulzbot Taz 5 were two particular highlights of 2016. So, not all bad.
Commencing 3pm Eastern Time on Monday July 16th, 2018 and lasting for a day and a half, Amazon Prime Day is exclusive to Amazon Prime members. Sign up for Prime here if you haven’t yet and want to see what all the fuss is about come July 16th. Those completely new to Prime get a 30-day free trial too, so if you do find a bargain on Prime Day you can just cancel the membership afterwards (win-win!).
We’ll be monitoring the Prime Day deals and cherry picking our highlights. Bookmark this page, or watch out for our messaging on the day itself.
