Today, Xbox welcomed fans to the start of Europe’s biggest gaming show by taking part in gamescom: Opening Night Live. Rod Fergusson, Studio Head of The Coalition, joined host Geoff Keighley to present the worldwide debut of the Gears 5 Campaign Story Trailer, titled “Kait, Unleashed.” The trailer, set to the critically acclaimed industrial rock song “Head like a Hole” by Nine Inch Nails, features the first in-depth look at the next chapter of the Gears saga. War has come to Sera, and in its midst Kait Diaz struggles with a personal journey to uncover her mysterious connection to the enemy. While her squad struggles to fight the Swarm, she must face the dark truth that the most dangerous threat may be herself.
In addition, Rod previewed the all-new Gears 5 Horde mode, which will make its hands-on debut at gamescom later this week, featuring new abilities and ways to play, including cross-over characters from Halo: Reach included in Gears 5 Ultimate Edition. Fans can get a deeper look at everything coming to Horde on the gamescom edition of Inside Xbox which aired earlier today.
Finally, Rod was honored to accept the gamescom: Best Xbox One Game award for Gears 5 on behalf of everybody at The Coalition, who recently celebrated Gears 5 going gold.
Gears 5 will be available worldwide Tuesday, September 10 on Xbox One, Windows 10 PC and Steam. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members and owners of the Gears 5 Ultimate Edition play 4 days early with early access beginning Friday, September 6.
