Hi everyone! Here at Snap Finger Click, we’re excited to tell you all about our brand-new trivia party game, It’s Quiz Time, which we’ve just released on Xbox One.
We recently celebrated our two-year anniversary as a studio that builds stream-friendly multiplayer games, and for the last 18 months, we’ve been working hard to bring you our most ambitious project yet! It’s Quiz Time tests you and your friends on your trivia skills with over 25,000 questions, 11 different multiplayer rounds, five different game modes, and a whole host of extra features to make it the biggest quiz game ever on console.
The team at Snap Finger Click is largely made up of former developers of the Buzz! quiz series. Our years of experience have taught us what it takes to make an awesome quiz game. When we first started out on It’s Quiz Time, we thought a lot about all the techniques we know work, the ideas we had and were never able to do before, and how we could we create a trivia game that feels familiar and brand new at the same time.
Things have changed a lot in last few years too. We’ve watched how popular streaming has become and we know how well that works for multiplayer games. After releasing our previous title, Act it Out! A Game of Charades, we added a unique live show mode that lets viewers play along via the chat. It’s Quiz Time also features a live show mode, made especially for streaming on platforms such as Mixer and Twitch.
With the use of a camera, you become the host of your own quiz, and up to 10,000 viewers can play along by typing their answers into the chat. The viewers work together to try and defeat the host, but we also keep track of individual viewer scores to make it a proper ‘co-opetition’ mode. We showed It’s Quiz Time’s live show mode off at TwitchCon in October, and the response was incredible.
The host of It’s Quiz Time is an AI supercomputer called Salli. She guides you through the game, offering you the questions, commenting on your performance and learning more about you with each play. Something we learned from Buzz! is how much players enjoy a personalized experience which is why Salli can address you by name and your chosen pronouns. And when viewers join in, Salli can even read out their comments!
It’s important that everyone can play without the need for extra controllers. Up to eight players can join in with It’s Quiz Time just by connecting their smartphone or tablet. And by using smartphones as controllers, it means we can do rounds in new ways: bluffing, swiping, guessing, secret information, and more! There’s a great mixture of classic and new, with some things you’ll have never seen before in a quiz game.
Want to hear more? There are loads of other features I haven’t mentioned yet. You can play the solo score attack mode with a controller or smartphone to try and top the leaderboards. You can also customize your own games with your favorite rounds. There’s even a topical event quiz that gets regularly updated to tie-in with real-world events such as the Oscars or the Olympics.
It’s Quiz Time is out now on Xbox One for a special introductory price of just $19.99 / £15.99 / €19.99. It’s available in English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish – with content specifically tailored for each region.
