Hi folks! Since the launch of Slime Rancher 2 into Game Preview on Xbox Series X|S and Windows 10/11, Monomi Park has been hard at work on expanding Rainbow Island and the roster of wiggly, jiggly residents that call it home. Today, we’re excited to bring you our first major content update, Song of the Sabers, featuring an entirely new wintery wonderland biome to explore.
Your adventure begins when Beatrix LeBeau discovers a mysterious glacier off the coast of Ember Valley known as Powderfall Bluffs. As if it were a giant, icy time capsule, this new biome holds a thriving community of prehistoric Saber Slimes and Thundercluck chickens within, as well as a treasure trove of new resources for crafting and strange, auroral anomalies scattered about the zone.
Here are a few of the new features to discover in Powderfall Bluffs:
Let it Snow!
Take in the beauty of Rainbow Island in ways never seen before with great expanses of pillowy, white snow in every direction. But don’t linger, because this snowy sanctuary is home to Saber Slimes — a ferocious blast from the past! Thought to be long extinct, these prehistoric predators now stalk Thundercluck chickens among the snowdrifts of Powderfall Bluffs.
Take in the Northern Lights
Powderfall Bluffs produces an array of auroral anomalies that paint its world in beautifully haunting lights. Curiously, these phenomena can be walked upon at night when they glow most intensely, allowing you to reach mountainous new heights. But you must act fast before they vanish with the dawn…
New Gadgets to Build
Harvest new resources like Perfect Snowflakes and Sun Sap to build new Gadgets like the Snowball Machine and Snowglobe. Start an icy dust-up anywhere with the Snowball Machine or capture the spirit of winter with the giant Snowglobe. Powderfall Bluffs offers many new rewards for those that can collect precious resources from its frigid peaks.
Snowball Fights!
Slimes love to play in the snow and won’t hesitate to start a snowball fight with you and other slimes! When you toss snowballs at slimes, they’ll toss snowballs right back at you and at each other. Hmm, maybe we should have added a “duck” button…
We hope you enjoy uncovering the mysteries and surprises in our latest expansion of Rainbow Island. Check out the new update in Slime Rancher 2 (Game Preview), available now for Xbox Series X|S and Windows 10/11 as well as with Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, and Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta).
