Arduino Cloud supports ESP32 boards

Arduino Cloud is Arduino’s integrated platform to develop, deploy and manage IoT devices in an easy way. It supports a broad list of hardware including not only Arduino boards but also ESP32 and ESP8266 based boards. Arduino is committed to making this list of devices grow and as a result of this effort, ESP32 S2, S3 and C3 family of chipsets have been added to the list of supported devices.

One Cloud platform to rule them all

Similarly to Arduino hardware, ESP32 devices are among the most widely used processors in the IoT world due to their low price, integration and high performance. Both platforms have become the de-facto standard for hobbyists and developers who want to create their small home appliances, but they have also grown in popularity among other industrial and professional areas. It’s so easy to get started with them!

Furthermore, you can use the same Arduino IDE to program Arduino and ESP32 boards. And you can even reuse your code and sketches!

But what if I want to go a step further and manage my devices remotely? That’s what Arduino Cloud was designed for. It is an online platform that allows you:

  • to develop your software online with the Web Editor and to keep your sketches in the cloud
  • to deploy and manage your devices with the IoT Cloud that allows you the creation of custom dashboards that can be accessible remotely from your browser or the mobile app

All that with just an integrated unique platform and taking benefit from the rich collection of Arduino’s libraries, examples and tutorials that help developers get at speed with minimum effort.

Three new ESP32 flavours supported by Arduino Cloud

The three new ESP32 platforms that are now supported by Arduino Cloud are the popular ESP32 S2, S3 and C3.

ESP32-S2 is a highly integrated, low-power, single-core Wi-Fi Microcontroller SoC, designed to be secure and cost-effective, with a high performance and a rich set of IO capabilities.

ESP32-S3 is a dual-core XTensa LX7 MCU, capable of running at 240 MHz. Apart from its 512 KB of internal SRAM, it also comes with integrated 2.4 GHz, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5 (LE) connectivity that provides long-range support. It has 45 programmable GPIOs and supports a rich set of peripherals. ESP32-S3 supports larger, high-speed octal SPI flash, and PSRAM with configurable data and instruction cache.

ESP32-C3 is a cost-effective RISC-V MCU with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5 (LE) connectivity for secure IoT applications.

Get started now

Getting started with ESP32 S2, S3 and C3 boards with Arduino Cloud is as simple as following the tutorials that show you how to get started with the web editor and  how to get started with ESP32 boards on the IoT Cloud
