A doomed family lineage. Hundreds of innocent souls engulfed in the first layer of the Nine Hells. A demonic ape-like fiend. Chickens. The latest Neverwinter module, Infernal Descent, is in need of adventurers to deal with these tragedies and terrors.
Enter the Hell Pit
The Hell Pit event that kick-started this fiendish descent
challenged the heroes of Neverwinter to survive waves of fiends. While facing
groups of devils alone may not seem like a fair fight, power up spawns afford
some aid against the increasingly difficult onslaught. Emerging victorious each
round brings out a spirited cheer squad – though if they are cheering for your
success or the upcoming round of pain is still in question. From a development
standpoint, Hell Pit served as both a narrative start to the new storyline and
a year-long recurring event that allows players to earn great rewards…if they prove
their worth in the arena.
Vallenhas and Avernus Adventure Zone
The new level 80 Adventure Zone of Vallenhas and Avernus also
offers some formidable foes for seasoned adventurers, but brings with it new
allies as well – Alric the Paladin and Etrien the Bard – to assist players
embarking on this adventure. Quick of wit and loyal to the Vallenhas family,
Etrien knows of one individual who can help change the course of the impending
threat. Alric, first-born son of the Vallenhas family, suspected early on that
the family patriarch had made some unsavory, if desperate, dealings with
devils. Spending the last ten years trying to solve the mystery, he now returns
only to find his family’s estate gone. He will need to call in a favor with a
familiar, though maybe not welcomed, face to reach Vallenhas Manor and its
people.
Descent into Avernus Campaign
As you uncover the tragic storyline of the Vallenhas family,
a brand new campaign brings with it rewards and repeatable content. From
dealing with pesky abyssal chickens to locating the oft-wandering Halfling
Whardo, the inhabitants of The Stronghold have plenty of daily tasks to offer
willing adventurers. While a minimum item level of 20,000 is recommended to handle
most of the threats of Avernus, you will want to team up with other players to
take on the perils of Heroic Encounters!
The Infernal Citadel
The final step of the new Descent into Avernus Campaign will
unlock the Infernal Citadel. In this new end-game dungeon, you will need to
navigate the spider web of chains and face enemies of the bone, flesh, and
other variety. You may be able to get past the Bone Devil with its spear-sharp
spines, wings, and unpredictable moves. You may even be able to defeat Zaphael
the Pit Fiend and his deadly pools of fire. For these victories, though, you
will be “rewarded” with a caged death arena match against the massive Hellfire
Engine! The Infernal Citadel allows you to earn the new Seals of the Fallen
which can be used to claim the new Infernal Forged Armor.
Achievements
For the achievement hunters among you, you’ll have to go out
on a limb to explore the dangerous floating terrain, seek and defeat rare
fiends, help the condemned citizens, and more!
Improved World Map
If you need a break from hell and are looking to visit other
areas of Faerun or take a rest in Protector’s Enclave, you may notice the world
map looking slightly different. As part of our ongoing effort to make quality
of life improvements, the world map interface was redesigned to make it more
streamlined.
The fate of Vallenhas hangs in balance. Are you ready to descend into Avernus and face the fiends who dwell there? Check out Neverwinter: Infernal Descent, now on Xbox One!
