Double Fine Productions is as pleased as the most delicious fruit punch to announce the release of Psychonauts 2 today. What started as a crowdfunding campaign backed by fans — you might say a “fund Raz” effort — has grown into a massive psychic adventure that you can finally play day one with Xbox Game Pass.
Continue a storyline that started nearly two decades ago (don’t worry, we’ll catch you up!) and take control of Razputin “Raz” Aquato as he joins up with the international super psychic society known as the Psychonauts. Stages brim with collectables and colorful characters as you travel from trippy mental concert stages to dangerous teeth-filled nightmare worlds. It’s a game about bashing baddies with mind-blasts, manipulating time to cross dangerous platforms, and exploring the inner world of our minds.
Psychonauts 2 is a game full of challenges and secrets but also one we wish all players to experience on whatever terms they desire. A big ol’ suite of accessibility options is there to make sure you and a variety of players of different ages and needs can enjoy the adventure. Just as Raz acquires new abilities, we hope you’ll feel empowered to enjoy and explore each world to the fullest, just how you like.
But, yeah. That’s it! The game is out! Sit back, roll up your sleeves, and dive into Psychonauts 2! Which, we must stress again, is finally here after five years of development and ~16 years after the original Psychonauts. We hope you will enjoy this fantastical journey into the minds of misfits, miscreants, and marvelous dreamers. Play Psychonauts 2 with Xbox Game Pass, on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows, Xbox Cloud Gaming, PlayStation 4 and 5 (with backwards compatibility).
Also, don’t forget to keep your mind’s eye on @DoubleFine’s Twitter and DoubleFineProd on YouTube, where we’ll share more about an upcoming docu-series that chronicles the game’s journey from start to, well, right now!
